John Blalock has been a nurse and photographer for fifteen years. He holds an MFA in Photography from the University of Washington and a BS in nursing from Oregon Health Sciences University. He has worked as an Artist in Residence at Seattle Children’s Hospital, first in 2009 through a grant from the Livestrong Foundation to work with the patient Ruby Smith, and again in 2014 for a project called Cancer is Science Fiction, an arts project at the SCH Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology Ward. (SCH Teen Guild Fund). He currently lives and works in the Pioneer Square area as a teacher and freelance photographer.
